My name is Joe Smalley and I am an intermediate photographer based in the Cotswolds.
I have always had an interest in photography as well as cars and how they mechanically function.
In my spare time I watch motorsports like WRC and drifting events such as Driftmasters. Whilst watching WRC photography I came across a freelance photographer, Jaanus Ree and found his photos inspirational. This prompted me to want to start taking photography more seriously in 2022, with a passion to tell stories through my photos. Taking a picture of a car or a plane is nice to look at, however, trying to develop a story behind these photos is more exciting and creates an unforgettable memory.
My inspiration is to achieve interesting photos every time I go to an event and learn new techniques that will enable me to capture unique photographs.
An aspiration I have is to get my photos published, whether this is in an online article, magazine or gallery. So far I have had some of my photos published in the Prescott Hill Climb booklet covering the Midland Championship.
Future aspirations are to attend a wider variety of events to gain further opportunities which will enable me to capture inspiring photos in a more diverse set of locations and scenarios.
